Beth Thraves was born in Sheffield in 1991. Her artistic interests began at school at an early age, and she completed both her GCSE AND A Level in the subject. She later moved on to do a foundation degree in Fine Art at Chesterfield College, and then went on to study a Degree in the same subject at York St John University. She is currently completing her last year of university.

 

Beth's work is a self challenging bag of mixed media, tackling day to day subject matters from an alternative view point. Beth is very interested in the human form and portrait, and this is evident through a lot of her work. While Beth is technically skilled in the art of drawing and painting, she has a particular interest in digital media, and has, in the past been involved in small film making projects, photography and animation. These are all evident in her most recent works.

 

'I'm incredibly versatile when it comes to my artistic practice. It's a little annoying really as I can never decide what to do next!'

 

Beth is currently taking some time to focus on her more traditional work, such as drawing and portraiture. She hopes to put her technical drawing skills to use by persuing a career in tattooing.
